‘Big Brother represents a diverse but one Africa’ – Davido.
Shortly before his performance at the recently-held opening ceremony of the Big Brother Hotshots in Johannesburg, South Africa, BET award and MAMAs winner, Davido spoke to NET on why he performed at the ceremony and his take on the popular reality TV show.
What’s your perception about Big Brother Africa?
Big Brother represents the diverse but one Africa and the need to live together in unity. It is also about the entrepreneurial spirit of the African youth. What we see as struggle for survival defines our enterprise against all odds. Kudos to Big Brother.
Why did you decide to perform for Big Brother?
Because it represents the African youth and I’m one of them. The support and love Mnet and DStv has shown African artists by making themselves the windows for us to the rest of the world is also enough reason to perform at a show of this magnitude. I think Big Brother Africa is the only reality show that is on TV, showcasing Africans from different backgrounds and culture to the rest of the World.
Who really is Davido & what do you have to say about the Nigerians in the house?
Davido is an African artist from West Africa. Nigerian, from a family of five, from a small town in Osun State called Ede. My agenda and struggle represent my belief in the [dream for a] peaceful and better Africa.
